Beverly Kaye, Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go
Dr. Beverly Kaye, is an official legend – as designated by the American Society for Training and Development. This speaks to her influence in the world of training and particularly in the world of career management. She wrote her first book, Up is Not the Only Way, in the ‘80s and even then she was thinking about how organizations were shifting and what we needed to do to manage our careers. Her most well-known book, Love ‘Em or Lose ‘Em : Getting Good People to Stay really spoke to the so-called war of talent and how to keep your very best people working for you. In this interview we’ll talk about her new book, Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go: Career Conversations Employees Want co-written with Julie Winkle Giulioni.
Listen to Bev and I talk about:
- The power of an “unmeeting”
- The importance of hindsight conversations and foresight conversations
- Why onward and upward has been replaced by forward and toward
- How managers can worry less about having all the answers
